At Legacy, we know that our teachers play a critical role in our students’ success. Legacy teachers do more than just teach — they change lives — and it is important that we recognize their value and contributions in shaping the bright futures of our children.
In December 2020, Legacy’s Board voted to keep instructional salaries flat pending additional guidance on changes in state equalization for the 2021-22 School year. Average teacher salary differs from prior year due to changes in teaching staff and new teacher recruiting, resulting in differing levels of education/degrees and teaching experience upon which teacher salaries are based.
Average salary of returning teachers employed in budget year 2021 | $52,249 |
Average salary of returning teachers employed in prior year 2020 | $50,097 |
Average increase from previous year | $2,152 |
Percentage increase | 4% |
Year-to-year changes in the level of teacher experience and education in the Legacy teacher population affect the average salary.
As an example, a teacher with 10 years of experience and a master’s degree may leave a school and be replaced the following year with a teacher who has four years of experience and a bachelor’s degree. This substantial difference in years of experience and education would lower the school’s average teacher salary.
When all teacher salaries are looked at in the aggregate and compared from year-to-year, the increase in the average salary for all teachers will differ from the percentage increase given to each individual teacher.
Average salary of all teachers employed in budget year 2024 | $61,769 |
Average salary of all teachers employed in budget year 2023 | $58,892 |
Average change from previous year | $2,877 |
Percentage change | 4.9% |
